Kathleen Turner, Artistic Director

Artistic Director Kathleen Kalin
Turner is one of only a few graduates of the Eastman School of Music to
be awarded the prestigious Performer’s Certificate in two disciplines,
earning hers in organ and oboe. In addition, she holds a Masters of
Music in Sacred Music from Westminster Choir College, (Princeton, New
Jersey) and was the 1988 winner of the national MTNA-Wurlitzer
Collegiate Artist Competition in organ. Since 1988, Kathleen has held
sacred music positions in the Episcopal denomination, most notably
Organist/Choirmaster of Trinity Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas and
historic Christ Church, Frederica on St. Simons Island, Georgia. In
addition to her work with the Austin Children’s Choir. Kathleen also
serves as Director of Music for St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Austin,
TX. Kathleen enjoys an active performing career and presents workshops
in various facets of music education throughout the country. She lives
in Austin with her husband, Te and son, Chris.
Corey Candler, Associate Director
Corey a native
of Shreveport, LA, received his Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance
with emphasis in
Sacred Music from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA. In
December 2006, Corey completed his Master of Music degree in Organ
Performance at the University of Texas, Austin, studying with Dr. Frank
Speller. Corey has served Northwest Hills United Methodist Church as the
Assistant Director of Music and
Organist since
May of 2003. His duties include overseeing the ensemble that provides
music for the contemporary service, accompanying the Sanctuary Choir and
providing music for all worship services, weddings and funerals. He also
acts as a substitute for the Director of Music when needed.
Corey has also
had experience accompanying church choirs, instrumental and vocal
soloists and has performed numerous works with choir and orchestra.
Before moving to Austin in 2002 to attend UT, Corey served at Baptist
and Catholic churches in Louisiana. In his spare time Corey enjoys
composing and hopes to have his works published soon.
Austin
Haller, Pianist

Austin
can be seen playing the piano and organ for concerts, recitals, and
musicals throughout the Central Texas area. HHHe serves as Accompanist
for the Austin Children’s Choir, and as Organist at St. David’s
Episcopal Church.
Austin has served as music
director and/or pianist for such regional musical theatre groups as
Austin Musical Theatre/Broadway Texas, TexARTS, Zachary Scott Theatre,
Zilker Theatre Productions, Austin Playhouse, St. Edward’s University,
Summerstock Austin, and Texas State University. A graduate of the
University of Texas with a B.A. in Government, Austin is also active in
politics, having worked in Washington, D.C. and for local political
campaigns.
Amarilis
Castillo, Executive Director
Amarilis has a
Master of Arts degree in International Relations and is an experienced
nonprofit
professional. Prior to joining the Choir, Amarilis was the General Law
Case Placement Coordinator at Volunteer Legal Services. She has also
worked as the Volunteer Coordinator at Open Door Preschool and as the
Tech Tots Coordinator and Resource Development Associate at United Way
Capital Area.
